Getting Started

Create your account using just your email address – it's completely free with no ads. Once you're in, you have two options:

  • Create a League: Start your own competition and invite friends via email
  • Join a League: Get invited to an existing league by another player
Important Notes
  • All leagues must begin on a Monday (any Monday in the future)
  • Fixed duration: 4 weeks regular season + 2 weeks playoffs
  • Each league uses 3 themed Market Lists (one every 2 weeks)
2

Building Your Portfolio

Your portfolio is the heart of your strategy. You have 3 positions that you can fill with stocks from the Market List:

  • 3 different stocks for diversified risk
  • 2-3 of the same stock to double/triple your gains (or losses!)
  • Empty positions to play it safe

Minimum requirement: At least 1 stock must be selected. If you don't choose, one will be randomly drafted for you.

The Market List
Think of this as your fantasy sports draft board. It's a curated list of 10 themed stocks available to all players in your league. Unlike fantasy sports, multiple players can own the same stock – there's no exclusivity.

Trading Strategies

You can make strategic moves throughout the season with three types of trades:

  • Swap: Sell a stock and immediately buy another to replace it
  • Sell: Sell a stock and leave that position empty
  • Buy: Fill an empty position with a new stock
Trading Rules
  • All trades go into effect the day after they're placed
  • Your gain/loss percentage is locked in when you sell
  • New purchases start at the previous day's closing price
  • Only you can see your pending changes until they execute
Trading Example
You own AMZN, JNJ, and have one empty position. You want to sell AMZN and buy GE. When you request this trade, your AMZN gain/loss percentage gets locked in using today's closing price. Tomorrow at market open, you'll own GE starting at yesterday's closing price.

Scoring & Competition

FanTrade uses a simple but exciting scoring system based entirely on percentage performance:

Real-Time Tracking
Throughout the week, you'll see your live total percentage score updating in real-time through both your portfolio view and the line graph. Your score is only based on percentage performance of your selected stocks – no dollar amounts involved!

Regular Season

  • At the end of each week, players are ranked by their percentage return performance from the stocks in their portfolio
  • Top half gets a WIN, bottom half gets a LOSS
  • Overall standings use Win-Loss record first, then total percentage score

Playoffs

  • Seeding determined by W-L record, then total score
  • Head-to-head matchups in a tournament bracket
  • Same scoring rules, but you only compete against one other player
  • Win your matchup to advance to the next round
Victory Condition
  • The last player standing after the playoff bracket wins the entire season!
